All the rain we’ve experienced the last few weeks has put our newly installed stormwater system to work! Crews have nearly completed utility work between the Midblock Crosswalk and Cabarrus Ave. They’ve continued to pour sidewalks and lay pavers between Barbrick Ave and the Midblock Crosswalk, and our Electric Systems crews are installing the meter box to support our new kiosk and smart light poles.
Friendly reminder: Cabarrus Avenue will close between Church St. and Spring St. on Monday, May 20 for approximately two months to allow crews to begin utility work on the Union St. intersection. During the closure, the Municipal Parking Deck will remain accessible from both the Cabarrus Ave and Union St entrances. Drivers may still use Market St to visit downtown businesses or access the city’s payment drop box.
