February 28, 2025 Streetscape Update

Since our last update, furniture installation (benches, trash, and recycling receptacles) has been completed. Paving crews installed three diamond patterns at the two midblocks.

Electric and fiber installation continues. The light poles south of Cabarrus Avenue are now functioning in the evening as crews work on powering the poles north of Cabarrus.

The large thermoplastic compass was installed at the Cabarrus Avenue and Union Street square. Fun fact, this intersection determines the four quadrants (NW, NE, SW, SE) used in the street names throughout the City of Concord. The compass is a symbolic representation of the story of our streets and is located in the main square of Downtown Concord.

Today and tomorrow (Saturday, 3/1) crews will install the thermoplastic road striping and markers throughout Union Street.
