Post Mortem Players Presents “The Innocents”
As the song says ‘scary ghost stories’ are a longstanding part of the holiday season. Join Post Mortem Players as they present The Innocents, a stage version of the classic ghost story The Turn of the Screw, to add a little extra chill to your Christmas.
When a young governess arrives at a country estate to care for two children, she begins to suspect they are being watched by someone in the garden. As the children’s behavior grows more and more concerning, the governess suspects this figure poses a supernatural threat. Is it just in her head? Or are the children, and more importantly their souls, in danger?
The Innocents premiered on Broadway in 1950 and was later adapted for the 1961 film of the same name starring Deborah Kerr, widely considered as one of the best ghost movies ever made. The original novella has also been the basis for numerous works of both stage and screen, notably the 2020 Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Performances are December 14-16 at 7:30 PM and December 17 at 2:30 PM in the Black Box at Old Courthouse Theatre, 47 Spring Street NW, Concord, N.C. *Please note, the Black Box is only accessible by stairs.
