This week, Downtown Streetscape crews completed the final asphalt surface from Cabarrus to Killarney and installed temporary striping on Union St and Barbrick Ave. Why temporary striping? The current temperatures are too cold to install the planned thermoplastic striping which will be installed in the Spring when temps rise.
As the weeks progress, Union Street will open to two-way traffic. Please anticipate that traffic patterns may change as crews complete work throughout the work zone, including work at Corban Ave starting after the New Year.
Other work this week, includes installing landscaping, festoon poles, string lights at the Courthouse Plaza, pulling electric wire, installing sidewalks south of Corban Ave, and installing brick pavers.
