Your fall activities are calling…

Kids are back in school, fall is in the air, and the leaves are starting to change. It’s time to take advantage of that crisp air with fall activities in Downtown Concord.

1. Get Outside

Every weekend in September enjoy the Colorful Lights Historic Walking Tour! – A four-mile loop of colorfully floodlit homes with an interactive guide and map that celebrates the history of the historic homes in and around downtown.

Take a deeper dive into the past with the Concord History Walking Tour. Enjoy a guided exploration of Downtown Concord with Historic Cabarrus & the Concord Library that ends at the Concord Museum. This free event takes place Oct. 16, 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Registration required; space is limited.

Did you know? – There’s a greenway connector to the Carolina Thread Trail right in Downtown Concord? Jump on at the Harold B. McEachern Greenway at 71 McCachern Blvd. SE for a fall stroll on your way to or from downtown. Take it a step (or jog) further and register for Concord Parks & Recreation’s annual Veteran’s Salute 5k/10k on Saturday, November 6 where the start/finish line will also be at the downtown connector.

2. Union Street Festivities

Shop, drink, and eat in the street the last Saturday of every month at Small Business Saturday. Enjoy live music, vendors, demonstrations, and more while supporting your favorite downtown shops, restaurants, and local breweries from 11 am – 4pm on Union Street.

Representing 17 countries across five continents, the Concord International Festival invites you to celebrate traditions across the globe on Saturday, October 2 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm downtown. The festival will host numerous live performances, international food trucks and stalls, local & international drinks, multicultural arts & crafts, a kid’s corner and more!

Join 50+ local artists and crafters during Art Walk on Union, an all-day festival for artists and makers to sell their handmade artwork. Activities include live music, food trucks, and local brews and wines, on Saturday, November 13, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm.

3. Live Music:

Live music fans can find a rotation of live music every weekend in Downtown Concord at Lil’ Robert’s Place, Red Hill Brewing, Kodiak Cocktail Bar & Music Lounge, and Havana Carolina Restaurant & Bar. Fall also means the return of the annual Jack-O-Weenie Ball at Lil’ Robert’s Place and Red Hill Brewing’s Craft Concord. 4. Gallery Tours

Peruse one-of-a-kind art and historic artifacts at a variety of galleries downtown. Fall means the return of The Galleries’ annual Clay exhibit on display beginning October 7. The Spring Art Gallery Artist Group is a co-op of four local artists with works on regular rotation. Also providing hours to public is the Concord Museum for history buffs and novices alike.
